what are you fasting from?

I don't know if "fasting from" is really the right terminology, but what are you giving up? What are you planning to go without? What will you be focusing on instead? Share your plan.

From: sugar/fried foods/fat/bread/all that I understand Daniel would have done.

Focus: reading/praying/seeking daily God more; Not be distracted by anything to prevent that. To reach out not just to the lost but to the followers of Christ. I believe many take forsaken the assembling of the church. They go to church (the building) but they overlook the church (the followers). Making disciples is not just to the point of baptism. Jesus constantly shared and spent time with His disciples.

I'll be fasting for 21 days from animal products (meat, dairy), bread, sugar and artificial sweeteners, fried foods, canned/prepackaged food that contain preservatives & chemicals, refined and processed foods, solid fats (butter, shortening, margarine, etc.), and beverages (coffee, tea, soft drinks and the one that will be the hardest... Crystal Lite). I'm sticking to eating only fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (and sprouts), beans, brown rice, legumes & lentils all made from scratch (not all raw, though).

My purpose during this fast is to draw closer to God and to seek God to keep my marriage strong during a time in our marriage that will be different than ever before. Damian and I are beginning a new journey with him being in Texas for the next 7 months and we both are seeking Him to show us what our next steps will be.

Since food has such a stronghold in my life, I knew that this fast was something I needed to do to help break my habit of turning to food for comfort & happiness rather than to seek God to help me through stressful times.

I'm really fasting several things...seeking God, but not being too "strict" with food, because I want to make sure God is my focus, not what I "can't have". So excited to see what God is going to do and is already doing.

Alright...confession. Today my mentor, Ken, had me look up the Daniel quote of his food again. Ouch. I misunderstood. It only said pulse & water. Well, I have definitely not just done that. lol Lets just say mine is more like what Scotti quoted and I am including Ezekiel Bread with my raw almond butter! ;) I do have to say, I might have liked it better if I was like Daniel...locked away in the Kings palace and having my food prepared and brought to me. My frustration comes more from having to prepare my family's meal and then trying to figure out my own.
