Day Sixteen: less than a week to go...

Even though I only have less than a week to go, for some reason it seems to be getting harder not easier. I keep having thoughts like, "so what, just eat it." Or trying to mentally renegotiate the terms I set forth for myself at the beginning. Well, I'm not giving up. But I hope you guys know that having a big group of friends and making a public commitment online is just about the right level of accountability I require to be able to pull off a 21-day fast. :)

Anyway, I had a few great answered prayers just today. One, a friend of a friend who works for Compassion International was missing in the wreckage of a large hotel in Port au Prince. Miraculously, he was pulled from the rubble alive after three days with a French news crew on hand to record the miracle for his waiting family and friends! Also, today was our first visit with our foster girls' mom. It went better than we could have hoped for including permission from the case worker to allow us to supervise additional visits than the one per month they can schedule. That means that once a week we could get a chance to take her to church with us and she is eager to do it! Last, I got kudos from someone who is really hard to please! :)

Altogether, it has still been a rewarding experience. I'd love to hear some stories of other people's experience in the comments as we go through our last week. And don't worry, if you started later than me, I'd still love to hear your stories whenever it's YOUR day sixteen. :)

Savor the reward of making a decision and sticking to it. Isn't in crazy the 'pull' food has on us. May God help us all to be free of that 'pull'. My prayers to all who are setting aside this time to draw closer to God>

Thrilled that you have an opportunity to be with the girls' mother. What a blessing! Praying that opens up wide!!

God has allowed me to minister to a colleague. The experience has helped me be more accountable. It is also a "thought package" for fellow Christians and pre-Christians as I allow God to use me through this Fast. Although most say, "Twenty-one days. Wow. I could never do that." I am now proof that it is possible. And it's really not all that hard when you allow God to travel with you through it. Now that's some accountability partner, God is!
Yes, God, I'm coming.
Gotta go now.....

I'm completely tracking with you on where things are. My daughter is turning eleven on Tuesday. Due to scheduling, we're going out to eat three times this week. It's hard.

But, I think I've learned how dependent on a Savior I really am. He's there regardless. I've also just started to understand that it's God's timetable and not my own, even if it is for His story.

Still believing God for my dad's salvation. Would love to see it happen before my 21 days are up...but will be dancing before the Lord whenEVER it happens! He's been SO sweet to show me His presence during this fast! Thanks, Kendra, for inviting me to join you!
