1 Thessalonians 1

Are you as sick of words as I am? We live in a time of such a glut of information about this spiritual walk we have been called to. More books, more podcasts, more churches, more conferences, more blogs. All more words about the gospel, more head-knowledge.

But I want something different. I want to see the power. The power of the Holy Spirit running rampant and unchecked through our churches. Sweeping through our small groups in living rooms. Burning hot in our hearts. How are we living? How deep is our conviction? How have we applied this information to our lifestyles? How does the Bible mandate our worldview? How good have we gotten at imitating Christ? How has our stance sparked suffering?

A few weeks ago, Francis Chan said he really didn't need to read a single word more because there was so much left for him to live out from what he had already read. I'm listening to Matt Chandler right now making a similar point. Yes, you need to know what you believe. Yes, you are responsible to defend your faith. But are we even living a life that causes people to ask those kinds of questions? I don't know the answers to these questions, but I want to quit thinking about it and talking about it and just do it.

We are touting the amazing Nike Campus this week. Everyting is 'over the top'. And yes the JUST DO IT slogan is printed in many prominent places, but Brother James wrote it first ----BE A DOER OF THE WORD AND NOT A HEARER ONLY!!!
I sure think there are masses who still need to hear, for faith comes by hearing the word, but I agree many in the Body of Christ need to DO what they have heard!!
