Proverbs 5

This weekend's message from my pastor Craig Groeschel was terrific. Week one of "Five Easy Steps to Wreck Your Life" was: How to Commit Adultery in Five Easy Steps. He really did a fabulous job of laying it out. And this chapter was the key text (with scriptures from other places too).

This just reminds me how long this sin has been wrecking lives. Millenia. Since the beginning of marriage and certainly since the Ten Commandments outlawed it officially. And yet were we are in the 21st century with a wake of destruction still growing from adultery. It is so heartbreaking. But like the series title says, it's really a series of easy steps. When he asked everyone to raise their hand that planned on committing adultery, no one raised their hand. But still the stats are up above half for both men and women. No one plans on doing it but the key is to make plans to not do it.

Anyway, if your marriage is anything less than stellar, read this chapter as a warning and go online and watch Craig's message, either today at Church Online or later when they archive the messages to watch. My 12-year-old son attended with us and although there were more than a couple of opportunities for him to squirm and blush, I was glad he heard it. Just like Solomon sitting down with his son, it's a lesson you just can't hear too many times.
