The pillar of glowing cloud. I mean seriously. How breath-takingly awesome would that be? It's so hard to even imagine seeing God's manifest presence there in the middle of your camp. Part of me wonders why we can't see stuff like this today, but the other part of me answers. The kinds of marvels that brought glory to God in those days sadly might not do the trick in our day. People are so jaded and skeptical and unwilling to believe. I wonder what would happen if something like that happened today. If God showed up in the form of a pillar of fire and cloud. If it made the news would people just make fun? Would scientists explain it away? Would Christians even believe or would we argue about it. At any rate, God chose to do it then and hasn't chosen to do it today.
