2 Peter 3

Again, as in every chapter, there's lots of good stuff here. But the line that stands out to me is "make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with him."

I'm sitting here trying to think about someone who makes EVERY effort to live a perfectly holy life. I make a really good effort for a large percentage of most days. But to be sure, there are times when we just "let it all hang out" and give ourselves a little break for all of our hard work. I'm going to really pray about the distractions in my life that keep me from making every effort.

In Francis Chan's book Crazy Love he tells about his wife's grandma. She loves God so dearly that she indeed made every effort. He took her to a play once but could tell she really wasn't enjoying it at all. He asked her if there was anything wrong with the play. She said that this just really wasn't where she wanted to be found when Christ returned.

That's what this chapter is all about. How will you be found? Does your life mock God's promise to return for us? Will you be carried away by error? Will you be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with Him, or in some compromising condition that you will be ashamed of?

We don't know when Christ will return, but the days don't matter. Each one is of no more or less significance than a thousand years really. The only days that matter are today and That Day. How will you be found?

Yummmm
Deep thinking, and we do need to consider by the moment, if we are living as true representatives of Christ.
