Psalm 126

I think this psalm illustrates the natural order of things in a life reliant on Christ. Sorrow will come, but when you handle it knowing your hope is in Christ, then you've got joy on the way. I think the imagery of planting seeds while you're mourning and then harvesting in great joy is a beautiful way to remind us these seasons are just that, seasons.

I have several friends up against tremendous trials right now--losing a grandchild, a heart attack in the middle of church, a major spinal fusion surgery for a son, and our own battle against plumbing/sewage problems (which of course seems pretty trivial on that list). But we are marching out with seed, and we expect to return with a great harvest of joy.

The LORD has done great things for us. And we are filled with joy. Because we can trust that He will continue to come through again and again.

We don't mourn as those who have no hope--Joy comes in the morning. Our God is so faithful to guide us through every trial wiht victory.
