You know, I can't remember back to a time when I didn't know about Jesus. But reading this chapter makes me just awestruck realizing the incredible story of who Jesus, the man, the Son of God, really is. I mean, just imagine if you had never heard of Him. Of His story. Of the prophecies. Of the miracles. Of the love. Of the offer of grace. And then someone explained who He is as simply and completely as this writer does here (many assume Paul but I categorize it with other letters since it doesn't say).
He is amazing. He is incomparable. He sounds too good to be true. But He's so fantastically true.
I talked to a friend tonight that just did the messages for SWITCH (our youth experience) this month. He presented the evidence for God the Creator, then the Bible itself, and this week Jesus the Son of God. He said tonight's was his favorite. He had this huge glowing smile when he said it. Jesus. And that's the only response that makes sense. Just a joy and a gratitude and a wonderful rapturous peace.
Sometimes I wish I could experience this wonder of hearing the story of Jesus for the very first time. Of really knowing Him for the first time. But then I think of heaven and what the angels get to see. I can't imagine that. That day is certainly one I look forward to.
